Noah Baker placed 2nd in this years Quad State Solo for Murray State University this past January. He was awarded a $2,000 per semester scholarship at Murray State.

Baker went head to head with over 150 participants. Playing the saxophone, he performed two separate pieces, a lyrical piece and a technical piece.

Baker chose to play sonata movements by Henri Eccles.

Baker spent months preparing for this solo, practicing almost everyday. “This hard work really has paid off,” Baker mused.

Baker plans to major in Music Education at MSU: “A lot of my inspiration comes from Mr. B. He is an incredible man and instructor,” he stated.

Mr. Burchett further commented, “I am very proud of Noah, he is such an amazing player and I am so proud of him; he is solid.”

Down below is Noah Bakers audition tape. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this years competition was held virtually.
