On Tuesday, January 23rd our very own senior Drake DeFreitas committed to the Wabash Warriors to continue his baseball career. He has played baseball for 5 years at Graves County, and will continue to play for Graves until the end of the season. He has made many achievements through his baseball career when he started at the young age of four years.
Drake plans to make huge changes while at Wabash; “I hope to start both years there and have 2 very good seasons. I hope I grow as a baseball player and a person. I also hope to spread faith across my teammates. Lastly hope to go on to either a D1 or possibly get the opportunity to sign a pro contract.”
Drake had a huge decision to make and God led him onto the right path with the help from his family. Sitting down with DeFraitas when we asked him who inspired him and not only was it one person but it was his family.”God has inspired me. He has blessed me in so many different ways and there is no way I could ever thank him enough. My mom has also inspired me. She pushes me to my limits and challenges me in many different ways. She is my biggest supporter and helped me a lot. My coaches have also inspired me to become a better player. My sister has inspired me in ways I can’t even describe. She has down-syndrome and has done the impossible. She is one of the strongest people I know and I look up to her. Lastly, my father has inspired me. He got me into baseball and has stayed with me the whole way. Countless nights in the shop working on hitting and pitching. He has dedicated his time to helping me become a better baseball player and man. I cannot thank him enough for the things he has sacrificed for me.”
Drake plans to achieve multiple successes at Wabash; he said, “Wabash was my first official visit and it just felt like home. I loved the coaches and the campus. I continued to go on other visits to different places but I could not stop thinking about Wabash. I decided I wanted to take the chance and go to the #2 ranked JUCO in the nation because I felt like this was my best way to improve my game and potentially play at a D1 level.”
