FFA sends President Abby Flemmons and Secretary Allie Phelps to KY Rising Sun Conference

On Sept. 16 and 17, GCHS sent two promising leaders, President Abby Flemmons and Secretary Allie Phelps, to participate in the Rising Sun Conference in Hardinsburg, Kentucky.

The Rising Sun is one of FFA’s core symbols, as it signifies progress and a promise that tomorrow will bring a new day glowing with opportunity. This perfectly represents this leadership conference, which asks each chapter in the State of Kentucky to send two officers.

According to Secretary Allie Phelps, “Meeting people from other chapters and collaborating together was really fun.”

With over 100 participants, students are encouraged to unify beliefs and share ideas on how they can change their community. Students attend workshops to strengthen their leadership skills, which they can take back and share with their home chapter.

“I had a lot of fun, and if I could, I would definitely go again next year,” said President Abby Flemmons.
