Book Club kicks off school year with C.S Lewis

As Rush Week is looming around the corner and clubs prepare for their biggest week of the year, the Book Club has already made plans for their year.

This year, the Book Club led by librarian Mrs. Hiles will be reading “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” (by C.S Lewis) as a whole group. Members are encouraged to check out the book from the GCHS library as well as the Graves County Public Library. The book was chosen so members will be able to watch the play of this classic masterpiece at the Carson Center in Paducah. The play is being put on by U.S Bank and members will go to see it in November at a date to be determined. Later on in the year the club will have an after school showing of the movie with snacks and a discussion afterwards.

The Book Club also expects to begin lunchtime discussions of certain novels to bring GCHS bibliophiles together. Mrs. Hiles will reside over the discussion and will direct participating members how much to read each week so they will be able to add their opinions to the conversation during their specific lunches. The first novel to be read for these discussions will be announced at the next meeting on September 18th during upperclassmen SSR.

Be sure to check out the Book Club during Rush Week to get your chance to see “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.”
