Youth Leadership visiting with Mayor Kathy Stewart O’Nan

This past Friday, Graves County and Mayfield Youth Leadership students visited local government buildings for a glimpse into what happens behind the scenes.

Students visited Graves County’s PVA office, Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, and Graves County’s county courtrooms. They were greeted by Circuit Judge Bishop and District Judge Scott Robbins, Mayor Kathy O’Nan, MPD Chief Nathan Ken, and Jeremy Prince.

Hannah McAdoo, who is interested in pursuing law, said that her favorite part was meeting with Judge Judge Robbins and learning how Mayfield works from speaking to Mayor O’Nan.

Students specifically spoke with Mayor O’Nan about the tornado and future plans for the city. This conversation allowed students to get to know the leader of their community and understand the daily tasks she accomplishes.

“She is very inspiring to our community and she brings light to dark times, ”said senior Hadley Looper.

The next Youth Leadership will take place on February 17th to learn about education in their community.
