During the first week of February, specially selected students from Choir and Jazz Band were accompanied by Choir instructor Ms. Utley and Jazz Band instructor Mr. Burchett Jazz to All State in Louisville.

Choir students included Natalie Sims, Grace Story, and Alexander Rhea while Jazz Band featured Sean Howell, Darin Stanley, and Ty Flowers.

All State is an event where selected students from all over the state gather to learn and perform music pieces for one big performance. Of the over 15,000 students who audition, only about 350 are selected.

Choir students were conducted by famous composer Randall Stripe, an experience that Ms. Utley hopes will makes students “more aware on how to make their singing more musical” and provide students with an opportunity to learn from an individual with unique conducting experiences.

“My expectations were blown out of the water,” agreed Mr. Burchett. “The students had fun and learned well.”
