The GCHS orchestra program held a winter concert this past Friday at the PAC. The concert showcased all orchestras such as Chamber Orchestra, Symphony, and String Orchestra.

The PAC was filled with holiday cheer as they played childhood favorite carols. Chamber Orchestra, the most advanced group, gave a sneak peek into the pieces they will be playing at the season event, Candy Cane Classic, this Friday.

Isabelle Ford states,  My favorite piece to play was Mele Kalikimaka. It’s my favorite because it is fun overall.” She elaborates, “What I enjoyed most was that yes, a lot of things did not go as planned but we made it work and had fun still.”

The strings orchestra and symphony were combined for their performance seeing as they had the same music, and symphony just got done with the musical.

Joseph Lonsway says, “it was a fun time having a lot of people having one interest in common coming together to do an amazing thing”

All groups played a variety of classics that everybody enjoyed.

Emma Yoder says, “Rudolf because I kind of just grew up with it” Joseph Lonsway continues with, “Rudolf the Rednosed reindeer because it had a cool depth to it and it had a lot of chunky parts in it.”

The Orchestra winter concert was a great way to start off the beginning of the holiday season.
