Eagle’s Eye Big Buck Contest Winner

GCHS Eagle’s Eye is proud to announce the winner of the 2017 Big Buck Contest, junior Bailey Whiteman!

He revealed to Eagle’s Eye that this was his best hunt yet, calling it “the biggest buck he ever had the opportunity of shooting.” Whiteman claims he shot the buck Thanksgiving morning, right as he was about to pack up and call it a day.

Whiteman shot his first buck when he was 10 years old.

“My memory of it is very distinct. I was sitting in the stand with my Granddad,” Whiteman detailed. “I shot the buck after it came around to my left. The buck didn’t get far, so it was a pretty good shot.”

Whiteman considers hunting very important to him, as it is something that he has done since he was young.

“It’s a sport to me. I go out there and I’ll kill five or six deer and feed the less fortunate,” he explained.

Whiteman revealed his favorite part of hunting is sitting in the stand and taking in the scenery. “What I enjoy most is being in the creation and environment that God has made.”
