GC Students place at regional art show

GATSBY WINS– Senior Channing Davis placed first in Digital Media with her piece inspired by the Fitzgerald classic novel.

On March 8, four GC seniors received awards for their artistic talent at the Regional Art Show. Students placed in subjects such as digital media, mixed media, and ceramics. Channing Davis won 1st place in Digital Media, Adrianne Sanderson placed second in mixed media, Mariah Day placed third in ceramics, and Dani Williams earned an honorable mention in ceramics.

The show was organized by Shannon Duffey from Murray State University and Sandy Sasso from Calloway County High School. The event was held at Murray State. Schools in the region were allowed the to enter up to 20 pieces into the competition.

“It’s a great opportunity for the students that placed and I am proud of each and every one of them,” art teacher, Laura Cope commented. Students who earned a first place spot will go on to the state level competition in Louisville and will be judged in April.
