Graves County sees first snow days
Following a bout of wintery accumulation, Graves County Schools announced Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) from home due to inclement weather on January 6 and 7.
The first NTI day was decided in advance. The faculty and staff observed the snowfall predictions, which estimated 4 in. of snow, and made the sound decision to dismiss school for the next day due to safety measures.
“Knowing as bad as the snow got, it was the right call to call off school,” said senior Aidan Walker. “No one knew it would be this bad, so I also think the decision was made too quickly.”
Regardless of the school closures, though, NTI days ensure that students are still able to attend class even from home.
“The teachers I have are surprisingly attentive about NTI by giving work I would normally have in class,” said Walker.
The ability to accomplish classwork from home means the school won’t have to make days up at the end of the year.
With any following school closings, Graves County Schools are sure to utilize NTI days as it is most beneficial to students and staff.
