Senior gets head start on college
While many students were spending their last few weeks of summer sitting by the pool, senior Grayce Toon spent her time in class at New York University. Toon was accepted into the NYU Pre-College Program this summer allowing her to spend six weeks at her dream college.
Toon was eligible to attend this program after submitting her transcript and writing an essay. While there, Toon took two classes, Into to Sociology and International Law. She was also required to take a College Writing Workshop along with the rest of the students there. Her spot at NYU as a freshman next fall is not guaranteed, but this program as well as a recommendation letter from a professor will give her an advantage. Toon was able to meet with admissions counselors to find out all of the requirements she had to meet in order to attend the college.
For those who wish to go to a pre-college program, simply search for any pre-college programs at colleges of your choice. “I think it’s all about how you apply yourself. Some people are really talented but they fail to apply themselves to look for opportunities,” Toon said about others applying for programs such as this. “It was the best experience of my life thus far.”
