Grammys 2015
The 57th Grammy Awards weren’t anywhere near less prestigious then the last five decades. They took place in Los Angeles, California on February 8th. The singer songwriter Sam Smith not only won Record of the Year, Song of the Year, New Artist, and Pop Vocal Album, but also tied with Pharrell and Beyoncé with six nominations. Sadly for Beyoncé and Kanye West, Beyoncé’s album “Beyoncé” did not cut it for Album of the Year. Kanye did however find comedy in the situation, caused from 2009 with Taylor Swift, and jumped on stage when Beck’s album was announced as the winner.
Appearing on the E! network’s aftershow, West said, “I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should’ve given his award to Beyoncé.” Beck said he agrees with Kanye. “Absolutely I thought [Beyonce] was going to win,” he told reporters at an after party. Not only that, Beck then went on to lavish praise on his detractor. “You can’t please everybody. I still love him and think he’s genius,” Beck said of West. “I aspire to what he does. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?”
