The Struggle of Lefties

The Struggle of Lefties

Being left handed isn’t a breeze. There are so many problems lefties deal with that really aren’t that big of a deal, but really are to us, like when someone says “Hey, are you left handed?” when I am clearly writing with my left hand. But school supplies are the worst. Unless you want ink running from the tips of your fingers to your wrist, pens are a no-no for lefties. But what about notebooks? It is awful writing notes in a notebook and having the spiral leave indentions in your arm.

After doing some digging, I found things I thought didn’t even exist. I stumbled upon what I now like to think of as the holy grail of the internet for any lefty out there; a website called “Lefty’s, the Left Handed Store!” that is full of goodies that would make a lefty grin from ear to ear. They have notebooks with spirals on the right side, left handed scissors (although I’ve seen these multiple times before), pens and pencils with writing printed upside down so that when a lefty writes with it, to them it looks right side up. Scrolling through the magical wonders of this website, from left handed notebooks to left handed office supplies. This website has it all, including a lefty guitar. A lefty guitar! But I couldn’t help but wonder, why was it that I’ve never heard of the majority of these products? Which brings me to the issue at hand.

We need these products in stores, not just on some website that has three total locations for walk-in stores, two of which are in Florida and one of them being in California. Sure, you could argue that finding a lefty is pretty rare, but you will find a lefty more often than you would expect to. I know plenty of lefties, and I believe that these materials would sell extremely well in stores. Obviously you couldn’t expect to find as many of these as you would a standard product, but still, it would be a tremendously amazing gesture toward lefties if these products were to be sold in stores all over the nation, not just in three states. Another good gesture would be for people to stop asking if someone is left handed when they see them writing with their left hand. Just throwing that out there.
