People all around the world have different types of music taste. Here in Graves County, most students have headphones or air pods in their ears listening to music while walking through the halls. Every person is different, which means every person is listening to something that fits their life and who they are. Most of the time, music is a way that people express who they are, whether they are writing the music or just listening to it.
“Sometimes I get sad and I choose to listen to more happy music so that I can feel happier. Sometimes when I am going through something, I like to listen to music that relates to my situation,” says sophomore Claire Babb
Music artists use their feelings and their personalities to make music. High School is a time where people start maturing and getting into the real world. High School can either be your worst or best 4 years, and when it gets hard, people usually turn to music to help cope with those emotions and feelings.
“I listen to Christian music because it makes me feel happy and safe. I find my identity in Christ, it is who I am and it shapes my life.” Braelynn Johnson says.
Music is not only a way for people to cope, but it can also shape someone’s identity and who they are as a person.
“My favorite song is Gratitude by Brandon Lake because it makes me feel happy and it reminds me of all Jesus has done for me. When I am struggling it helps me to feel less alone and I can always relate to the words it is saying,” Freshman Emerson Binkley says.
