The Annual Egg Drop
Mrs. Duke’s class had an egg drop last week. Mrs. Duke said the purpose of this egg drop was to learn impulse and momentum using firsthand experience.
Students have had time to prepare their egg traps. Students went to the top of the gym and held their eggs. Some students drew faces on their eggs and even named them. Their partner set up the contraptions that were going to protect the egg from breaking.
Madison Haley’s group and their egg survived. Haley explained, “We got a bunch of tights and weaved them together to make a trampoline effect. We figured that would be more supportive than anything else. Then we added pillows underneath the tights for extra support.” It worked because little “Fiona” survived the fall.
