Walkout Wednesday

Over the past few weeks many High school students across the country have staged an event known as “Walkout Wednesday”.

Walkout Wednesday was created for students to protest gun violence and to honor the 17 victims killed in the Parkland shooting in Florida.

This event consists of complete silence while walking out of the school and it typically last up to 17 minutes; one minute a piece to represent each student that lost their lives.

GCHS Junior Tracy Hibbard approves of the idea:  “This is a way we can honor the victims without physically being in Florida. It’s not a lot but setting a short amount of time aside in respect of them is better than not doing anything at all.”
