August 5, 2015, the entirety of the Graves County staff gathered for a pep rally in the Graves County Middle school to kick off the 2015-2016 year.

The theme for this year’s opening day was “GC Rocks!” and featured Graves County’s in house band made up of various members of the GC staff. Classic rock music was played as beach balls, microphones, and confetti were thrown in to the crown to get the staff ready for the first day of school on August 6, 2015. Teachers were encouraged to inspire students to keep a positive, hard-working attitude for the upcoming school year. Door prizes donated by local businesses were given out to the attendees followed by recognition of the new members of the staff throughout the Graves County School system.

Accomplishments made by GC students and student organizations during the 2014-2015 year were highlighted with a slideshow. The rally also included freshman Carson McKee for her award in Junior Beta Club and her distinguished fiddle playing as well as seventh grader Ally Perdue and freshman Ben Phillips with their performance of GC’s version of Dueling Pianos.

The event was closed with GC alumni Morgan Elliot playing his guitar to “Don’t Stop Believing,” causing everyone present to sing and dance along as more confetti was thrown to begin the new school year.
