Graves County Eagles shut out Grayson County Cougars in the first district play game to improve their record 1-0 in districts and 2-3 on the season.

The Eagles started the game off to a hot start by scoring 14 points in the first quarter.

Cayden Goodman led the way for the Eagles with two touchdowns in the first quarter while Wide Receivers Cade Goatley and Gavin Newsome had big games as well.

“I was struggling with a mental block after coming back from an injury, but I’m starting to get my confidence back,” said  Goodman.

“We have a lot more energy than we started off with and it’s going to carry out through the rest of the season,” Goodman added.

“Going 110% in practice treating it like it was a real game. I make sure to run, stay hydrated, and watch film to improve each week,” said Goatley.

“We continue to win district games each week by focusing on each of our roles and who we match up against through film, and also practicing hard and being confident on Friday nights,” Goatley added.

The Eagles will play at Breckinridge County Sep. 22.
