On March 17, Rhaea Mathis set out to do one thing: Run. She got an incredible start, running with the front pack, and she ended up setting a new Graves County High School record. Beating the previous record set by Shara Darnell in 2006.
Mathis finished with a time of 5:42.51 beating Darnell’s record of 5:49.48.
“I actually have it written on my wall at home in big numbers that say ‘5:49’…and I have a sticky note I wrote the same thing on from 7th grade that I keep on my mirror.”
“The thing I love about track is the huge family you gain. Our track team is super close, and we all encourage and cheer on each other!”
