This past weekend, the All-Girl Varsity and COED cheer teams competed in the KHSAA Competitive State Competition. The All-Girl varsity team brought home 9th place out of the whole state and COED placed 2nd.
The All-Girl team competed in the “Game Day” small competition. This is a highly competitive division. The team completes a three minute route made up of 4 different aspects that would be done at a game: Band chant, sideline cheer, floor cheer, and fight song.
The COED team competes in the COED large division. This route consists of partner stunts, pyramids stunts, a floor cheer, jumps, and tumbling.
“I had the best time at State. We had a perfect hit and I could not have been happier with how the team did. Though we only placed 9th, the team itself has made so much progress over my high school years. The improvement is amazing.” says Olivia Stratton, Senior and member of the All-Girl team.
Though competition season is over for the All-Girl team, they will still cheer at basketball games. The COED team will be continuing preparing for Nationals which will take place in February 2024.
