On October 14th, the Graves County High School Cross Country team hosted the Eagle Classic meet. This race is a 5K, also known as 3.1 miles. Senior runner, Emma Madding broke a 12 year record during this run.
Madding has previously set records and added her name on the record board multiple times. Each race Madding has moved up, eventually reaching the number one spot.
Madding took the spot for first, replacing Sydney (Anderson) Green who had a time of 19:53:00. Madding achieved a time of 19:48:70, not only setting her own personal record but claiming first place.
“Emma is one of the hardest working athletes I have had the pleasure of working with. Not only does she have an athletic gift, but she truly is the epitome of humility and is genuinely the kindest person I have ever met. ” Says Coach Kayla Wilson.
Madding has been running High School Cross Country for seven years and has been distance running since she was young. She has been running for the Graves County Cross Country Team for 4 years.
“I cannot think of a better leader and role model for our team, and I can’t wait to see what she does beyond high school. I know the Lord will use her in mighty ways,” Says Coach Kayla Wilson.
Madding plans to continue running cross country in college. GC is proud of Emma Madding and everything she has accomplished.
