Boys and Girls basketball starting off strong

Two weeks into the 2013-2014 basketball season,the Eagles are off to a 5-0 start. For girls action, the Lady Eagles are off to a 3-2 start.

On December 3, the Eagles and the Lady Eagles tipped off against Livingston Central for the first game of the season. Both teams came out victorious with huge win. The boys flew away with a 66-27 win. The Lady Eagles dominated the Lady Cardinals, winning by a margin of 30 points, 64-34.

Over the weekend of December 5, the boys played in the annual Marshall County Hoopfest. Taking on Massac County, the Eagles came out with a 75-65 win. During the snow break, Fulton County traveled to the Eagles Nest to walk away defeated. The Eagles crushed the Pilots 76-43.

After a week off of school, Graves County traveled to Calloway to play a double header. The Lady Eagles put up a fight but game out on the short hand of the stick. They were defeated 65-51 by the Lady Lakers. After beating Calloway in the regional tournament last season, the Eagles weren’t going to let the Lakers run away with an easy win. Coming out on top, the Eagles won 57-42.

On December 14 the Lady Eagles were set to play Webster County at the Eagles Nest. After winning by a margin of 13, 81-68, the Lady Eagles moved to 2-1.

For the first district game of the year, Graves traveled to the corn fields of Ballard County to take on the Bombers Monday night. Both teams came out victorious. The Eagles won by a huge 32 points, 81-49 moving to 1-0 in District Three play. The Lady Eagles also won 73-57 moving to 1-0 in district play.

Thursday night the Lady Eagles received their second loss of the 2013-2014 season. Loading up the bus, the girls headed to Calloway County for the Heritage Bank Hardwood Classic. After taking on a team from Westview, Tennessee the ladies put up a fight but lost, 46-42.

The Lady Eagles play tonight against a team from Frederick Douglass, Tennessee in the Heritage Bank Hardwood Classic. In the Eagle Holiday Classic, the Eagles play West Creek, Tennessee tonight at the Eagles Nest.
