How much will you spend?
One of the biggest holidays celebrated in the U.S. is on October 31: Halloween. Surprisingly enough, it is didn’t start out as handing out candy and dressing up.
It was called ¨Hallows Eve¨ or ¨Saint´s Day¨ which was a day that deals with many religious beliefs. A type of faith called Celtic celebrated the afterlife and ¨ played ¨ with their dead family members or friends. In 1900, America started to celebrate Halloween and everything changed from then.
The average house in the US spends about $86.79 to hand out candy and to do some simple decorations that do not use lots of electricity. Using electricity can reach up to $50-$200 in some places depending on how much things they use. An average of $1.2 billion is spent on just adult costumes and $2.6 billion on child’s costumes. All adding up to $9 billion just for one night. How far will you go out to spend on just one day?
Junior Madison Rowe said, ¨My family and I, before we moved from California, spent lots of money on decorating our house every year for many people to go and see our mini haunted house and get big candy bars at the end of it. We loved doing it every year for people to enjoy their night and it made some bonding time for my family. Now that we are here in Kentucky, we don’t see people start preparing for this night months in advance, and think that we could have done some simple things and not go all out.¨
