The book “Red Queen” by Victoria Aveyard was published in February of 2015. “Red Queen” is a young adult fantasy novel that follows around a girl name Mare in a futuristic-type society.

This society is divided by blood. There are the red bloods and the silver bloods. The red bloods are normal people, the servants, and the lower class. They are the front line in the wars, the first to die, because they can be sacrificed. They are destined to serve the silvers. The silver bloods are the rich and powerful because they have special powers. There are multiple powers differing from strongarms (they have superhuman strength) to whispers (they can read and control minds).

A twist in fate led Mare to be a servant for the silver king at the royal palace, where in front of all of the higher powers she discovers a power of her own. This was unbelievable because she has red blood. The king and queen force her to hide this.
