“New Romantics” music video review

"New Romantics" music video review

Taylor Swift recently published her “New Romantics” music video to the public on Youtube yesterday. While she released the video to subscribers of Apple Music earlier this week, the release to Youtube allowed for anyone to enjoy it. And enjoy it I did.

“New Romantics” began as a bonus track on Swift’s Deluxe version of her latest album “1989.” It was released as a single in February and was an instant hit, causing the love for Swift’s “1989” to be rekindled by the public. The video itself was dedicated from Swift to her fans and covers the main highlights of her “1989” tour. The global tour was filled with amazing choreography, guest appearances (Selena Gomez, Ellen, Idina Menzel, etc), light up bracelets, and plenty of memorable Taylor Swift moments. Swift wanted her fans to have a song and video dedicated to their endless love and support as show in her tweet when the video was first released.

The video itself seemed more like a goodbye to the music industry as many shots included Taylor singing directly to the camera. The eventual blackout with the simple words “Thank you” at the end at me tearing up. Swift has not officially announced she is leaving the music industry but she has stated that she plans on taking (a well deserved) break. The music video overall was perfect to sum up the entire experience of the “1989” album and I can promise you I will be listening to it on repeat for years to come.
