Sophomore, Maddux O’Guinn placed 8th out of 16 teams in the KHSAA Region 1 Tourament.
When talking with O’Quinn about qualifying for sub-state; “I have looked foward to the regional tournament every year since was in 7th grade, quaifying for sub-state let me realize all the hard work I put into golf.”
O’Guinn has golfed for 11 years; he started when he was 5 when he began.
“My dad was my biggest inspiration starting golf, we started young and it stuck ever since,” said O’Quinn.
Maddux’s motivation while playing, is his future and how he plays to determine the future he has in college.
O’ Quinn’s final shot was a 76 during the KHSAA Region 1 Tourament placing as a sub-state finalist.
On September 26th, Maddox tees off for KHSAA state.
O’Quinn stated, “I did okay but not as good as I would have liked to, but you can’t always play the way you want to.”
O’Quinn also stated that his score place was, “About middle of the field.”
When asking Maddux how he played, “Not really, but I’m working harder than I ever have in the past years for the next season.” As he countines his golf career he wants, “To make state and keep moving foward.”
