The Amazon Forest is on fire
For the past three weeks the Amazon rainforest has been on fire.
In years past, the mighty rainforest was seen as fire-resistant due to so much moisture. However, July and August are the start of the dry season. NASA has said human activities and drought are main causes of wildfires in the Amazon.
The “lungs of the world” is the largest rainforest on our planet, not only does it produce 20% of the world’s oxygen, but it also holds 20% of the world’s fresh water supply, according to earth.com. If you would like to help, you can contribute to the Rainforest Trust and Rainforest Alliance.
