The news is flooding out
Throughout the past month, there has been an alarming amount of rainfall across the US. It affected West Kentucky directly, leaving flooded homes and stuck vehicles across Livingston, McCracken, Calloway, Graves, and Carlisle County.
There are free sandbags available in McCracken and Livingston for residents that are fighting to save their homes from flooding.
Jackson Purchase Energy Power Corp. removed electricity access from homes that were flooded in order to ensure safety and reduce incidents of electrocution.
According to residents of McCracken County, there hasn’t been a flooding this bad since 2011. There are incidents reported that residents are traveling by boat as of this week.
According to WPSD Local 6, “Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin on Monday officially declared a statewide emergency in response to heavy rains that caused flooding and infrastructure damage in many areas of the commonwealth,” around 2:30 pm on Monday.
