Archery Regionals at Marshall
The trip began at 4 o’clock on Saturday afternoon for the Eagles as they went to compete at the KHSAA Regional Archery Tournament.
To honor those impacted by the horrific shooting at Marshall County High School, Graves County wore orange.
Graves Co High School placed 5th overall, with the Middle School placing 1st in the tournament.
Fancy Farm also claimed 1st in the Elementary School Division.
5th graders Hayden Thompson and Bailey Hodge placed 1st in their respective divisions.
Sophomore Gracey Moffitt, who had been out for a while with an an injury, scored a 260 and says she “did better because my attitude changed.”
Freshman Micah Smith scored a 254 and had hoped to outscore his older brother, junior Lucas Smith. He did not succeed in this sibling rivalry, but it was still a good effort (Lucas scored a 278).
Going forward, Head Coach Kerry Smith told me, “There are two more qualifiers in the next two weeks,” and that he plans to “keep practicing to better ourselves,” and “score higher and make the State Tournament.”
