Apple Announces Recent Security Vulnerabilities In Operating Systems

Apple  has released a statement addressing the “Meltdown” vulnerability in recent iOS and macOS updates, as well as vulnerabilities in Safari to “Spectre” security issues.

Apple has confirmed that the two security issues effect all Mac and iOS devices, saying “All Mac systems and iOS are affected, but there are no known exploits impacting customers at this time. Since exploiting many of these issues requires a malicious app to be loaded on your Mac or iOS device, we recommend downloading software only from trusted source such as the App Store.”

The vulnerabilities allows a malicious program to read kernal memory, as well as access data like passwords, emails, documents, photos, and more.

The first wave of fixes for both vulnerabilities for both OS’s have already been released, with more to come.
