The last season of GC Coed has come to an end. The Coed team recently competed at Nationals in Orlando, Florida and placed 1st in their division. The 2023-2024 Coed team went out with a bang. Now, the Coed team is starting back up again and introducing new people to the team. Cheer leading is a very well known extracurricular activity, known for its crowd leading and fun cheers.
Senior Mystic Mangrum stated, “Graves County COED has meant a lot to me over the past two years, and it has taught me many life lessons that have helped me grow.”
“Felt great to get a white jacket and felt great to be top in the Nation,” Mangrum also stated.
After winning a national title, teams are not only given a trophy, but they are also given a white jacket.
Coed is a sport that involves high levels of skills to be performed as close to perfection as possible. The routine is 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Coed also requires guys that adds to the crowd leading and they build up the skills. Coed Cheer leading is not a cheer team that cheers on another team, they are the team being cheered on.
Being involved in a team like this is a great opportunity and can help people in many ways.
Senior Ryan Beth Goodman stated, “GCHS COED meant family and commitment for the past five years and I watched my sister be a part of the COED team and wanted to do it as well.”
“Winning nationals meant everything to me with balancing soccer and cheer leading for the past five years, and I also wanted it for everyone else, as well,” Goodman also stated.
Though the 2023-2024 season has come to an end, the team has already started practicing for the next season.
