A woman’s warning post about alleged street harassment in Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. Woman’s Warning Reaches Neighbors After She Says Strangers Stepped in During an Alleged Street Harassment Encounter Near Dupont Circle

WASHINGTON, DC — A Washington, D.C. woman is drawing attention after posting a warning she says was meant to protect other women walking in Dupont Circle and the West End. In the video, she did not show her face, but she said a man had repeatedly approached her and other Black women with folded notes and cash.

She described the encounters as unsettling and said she wanted people to recognize the man if they saw him on the street. Her post quickly spread beyond her own feed, with viewers reacting to what she described as repeated unwanted contact in a busy part of Northwest Washington.

How she described the repeated street encounters

According to her account, the man would approach women, act as if he did not know them, and try to hand over a folded piece of paper. She said the paper was part of a money-related solicitation and claimed the pattern had happened to her several times over an extended period.

She said one encounter happened in winter 2024 and three more took place during the summer, showing that she believed the same person had approached her repeatedly. In the video, she also shared still photos she said showed the man and said he was “targeting and harassing young black women.”

Her description suggested that the same tactic kept appearing: a compliment, a folded note, and money nearby. She told viewers she wanted others to know what the interaction looked like so they could recognize it before getting too close.

The notes and cash she says he handed her

As part of her warning, she showed two notes she said came from the man. One appeared to say, “You look gorgeous! If you are interested in a business arrangement for more $, text me at [blurred number] :)” A folded $20 bill was pictured beside it, and she said that note and money were given to her in August.

She also displayed another note she said she received in November 2024. That message read, “I think that you are absolutely gorgeous!! If you are ever interested in a sugar daddy, text me at [redacted number]. You won’t regret it!”

In her telling, the notes were not random handouts but part of a repeated approach. She said the same person had tried to give her similar paper messages multiple times, which is why she decided to make the interaction public.

What she says happened during the August confrontation

Her most detailed account centered on an August encounter. She said she was walking past the man, who was seated on the sidewalk, and recognized him from previous run-ins. As she continued on, she crossed the street at a traffic light and moved in the opposite direction.

She said she then had a bad feeling and checked behind her. When she turned around, she claimed he was standing very close and holding out the same type of note she had seen before. She included a short clip that appeared to show a man walking away, which she said supported her version of events.

She said she started recording and realized he had followed her across the street to try to hand her the paper again. In her telling, that was the moment the situation moved from uncomfortable to alarming.

Bystanders reportedly stepped in at the park nearby

She said the situation escalated only because a group of men near a park noticed what was happening and stepped in. According to her account, they confronted the man after seeing him close in on her, and that changed the tone of the encounter immediately.

She said he then acted as though nothing unusual had happened and told her he was sorry, as if he had simply bumped into her by accident. After that, she said he crossed the street again and moved away.

She used the moment to argue that the man had followed her specifically to hand over the solicitation note. She also said she did not know whether he was dangerous, even as she asked others to share any information they had.

Neighbors, safety concerns, and a police report request

In her caption, she asked anyone with the same experience to message her so the details could be added to an MPD report. She also said she had more evidence and wanted to keep building a record of what she believed had happened.

Later, she added a comment saying she was safe and that her neighbors had begun taking extra precautions. She wrote that a neighborhood meeting had been held, safety steps were being discussed, and her neighborhood email group had posted about the man.

She also said he now recognized her after she photographed him, which made her feel more exposed. It was not clear whether police had taken any action at the time, but her messages suggested the matter had already reached a local safety and reporting stage.

Viewers respond with concern and caution

The video prompted a strong response from viewers, many of whom said they were disturbed by her account. Some thanked her for speaking up and said the warning could help other women avoid a similar situation.

One viewer called the story terrifying and said they were glad she was okay. Another commenter claimed the man looked for Black women and had been discussed in college group chats, though that claim came only from a commenter and was not independently confirmed in the post.

Other responses focused on street safety. One viewer urged women not to accept items from strangers and suggested carrying personal protection tools in easy reach. The overall reaction showed how quickly a single TikTok warning can turn into a wider conversation about awareness, caution, and the small moments that can make a person feel unsafe in public.
