GCHS Interact Club lead the canned food drive for the Kentucky State police, who will collect these cans and donate them to those in need.

“The purpose is to collect non-perishable food items to be re-distributed to local food pantries all across the region,” explained GCHS Counselor and sponsor Mrs. Rodgers.  “The Kentucky State Police has asked us and other local schools to participate in the annual “Cram the Cruiser” event which will work together to help stock the shelves of local food pantries. ”

Any nonperishable food or money to buy food can be donated, such as canned protein, canned fruits, canned vegetables, ramen noodles, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, and so on. These foods will be going to people who can’t afford to buy enough food to prevent them from being hungry.

“The food will also be available to anyone in the community, so it is also benefitting the community.” said Gracie Colley, President of the Interact Club.

The 1A class with the most cans will be awarded a donut party, with the teacher receiving a free week of jeans.
