WPSD is partnering with Regions Bank once again and holding their annual Spirt Of Giving toy drive! Their goal? 6,500 toys.

You can take any new, unwrapped toy to your local Regions Bank through Friday, December 17th.

This event is held to help families in need provide a good Christmas for their children including teenagers. WPSD has requested more teenage appropriate gifts this year as there was a high demand for them in previous years.

If you want to donate, but are unsure what to buy, WPSD has a full link of ideas on their website. A few of those items include makeup, beanbags, skateboards, reusable water bottles, electronic accessories, etc.

For younger kids, some items include stuffed animals, coloring books, Legos, toy cars, small sports equipment, etc. Candy is another great option as it works very well for a stocking stuffer for all ages!

Last year, over 8,000 toys were donated. Starfish Orphan Ministry in Paducah received many of them and allowed families to come and take some of those toys home. Each family could pick three toys per child (two small toys and a large toy), two stocking stuffers per child, and three pieces of candy per child.

Chris Yu, a former reporter with WPSD, interviewed many families like Alissa Jones, one of the moms who visited Starfish Orphan Ministry. She said “Don’t ever be ashamed in getting assistance or help. It’s always good to share. This is a time of the season to give.” So many families benefit from this every year and it provides so many kids with a good Christmas that they may not have gotten.

If you know anyone in need this Christmas, please share this event with them and if you have time, go pick up a few toys and take them to your local Regions Bank, you won’t regret it!
