In addition to being the largest chapter in KY (approximately 125 members), GCHS DECA never fail to bring home regional, state, and national awards.

Last year at state, Brooklyn Williams was elected to serve as KY DECA Vice President of Communications. In addition, DECA students placed in 14 national events and over a dozen state events last March.

However, DECA is more than just a club: “DECA promotes careers in hospitality, finance, and marketing,” explained DECA advisor Michelle McKee.

“For me, it is an opportunity for students to develop their real world business skills and to connect with other people to prepare them for the workforce,” McKee continued.

“There is truly something for everyone,” said DECA President Ellie Youngblood.

“We will compete at the state level and get to stay in Louisville for a few days, as well as a fun trip to Nashville to shop at Opry Mills and go to a Nashville Predators game,” she added.

GCHS Students can join DECA this week at the bookstore, or visit Mrs. McKee in her classroom to pay their admission fee.
