Graves County and Tilghman had a tennis match Tuesday the 13th against Tilghman.

Laken Shultz had a match against Anna West from Tilghman. It was a close match, and unfortunately Shultz lost 5-8.

Shultz started playing with varsity for the tennis team in 5th grade and has continued to play throughout her middle school and high school career.

“My grandma and parents motivate to still play on the team despite all the changes and how hard this year has been through the pandemic,” said Shultz.

Since Shultz started playing she has looked up to Carson McKee, a former Graves County tennis player. Shultz has always aspired to be as good as she was and have the attitude McKee always had.

Though this year was much different due to Covid, Shultz  explains the team environment has stayed positive: “The team has been very supportive in adjusting to a season during the pandemic.”

The next match is against McCracken on Thursday the 15th.
