The GCHS chapter of Beta Club competed in a virtual competition at the Kentucky State Beta Convention on January 4th through the 19th.  Carrie Cavitt and Natlie Elder placed first in their competitions.

Carrie won 1st in the mixed media art division. She made different pieces of art with different materials provided. For example, she had to use pipe cleaners, paint chips, acrylic pain and cotton to incorporate into her art.

This was a division Carrie has never competed in and really felt inspired to try: ¨I was motivated to work hard to make something I could be proud of and possibly place with as well as try new styles of art.”

Natalie Elder won 1st place in language arts, this is Natalie’s first year competing and she not only won first place, but also won second place in creative writing. Beta is a very competitive team with multiple division such as creative writing, language arts,  and photography.

As a first year member Natalie says “Even though we are virtual, the spirit and energy is the same.”
