On February 2nd, the GCHS leadership class hosted a blood drive from 10 am-2 pm on the stage in the Independence Bank Performing Arts Center (PAC).

The Blood drive was a success and many students and staff donate blood.

“My experience was great, the staff helped me get through it and made sure I was okay at all times,” said a GC student.  “The people were really nice and made me feel safe even though I was a little scared.”

Mrs. Shanna Mills is the leadership teacher and helped orchestrate the drive and overcome obstacles due to COVID regulations.

“COVID has had a negative impact on blood drives across the nation, as well as our school,” said Mrs. Mills. “Hurdles that we have had to overcome include finding alternate locations that meet school and Red Cross guidelines and low donor turnout due to quarantines, virtual students, and no outside visitors being allowed at school.”
