Understanding the Kentucky Academic Standards – Family Guide (click for information)
The Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) Family Guides on KYstandards.org have been developed to help families familiarize themselves with the content of each grade level’s standards. These can be very important to families, especially during a time when parents are supporting virtual learning from home.
Student Handbook Hot Topics and Reminders
August 28th, we went through the entire handbook and discussed student expectations at GCHS. I wanted to send a reminder to parents about dress code and our cell phone policy.
Dress Code
Our student handbook outlines the dress code that is conducive to learning at GCHS. Below you will find the most common violations of our dress code. Please note the following, as all students will be held to this standard:
- No hats or hoods worn in the building
- No sleeveless shirts (shoulders, back and cleavage should be covered at all times)
- No flesh 3 inches above the knee
- Holes and slits in jeans
- Shorts (boys and girls)
- Slits in skirts and dresses
- Leggings should not be see through 3 inches above the knee
Cell phones
Just like the workplace there is an appropriate time and use of cell phones.
- Cell phones may be used before and after school, during breaks, and at lunch.
- Cell phones may be used in the classroom with teacher permission only.
