Taking place in the home of country music, Nashville TN, the 2019 NFL Draft was the 84th annual meeting of all of the 32 teams in the NFL to draft players that declared for the draft out of college. This was a three-day event, April 25th to the 27th. There are 7 rounds in the draft, the first round happened on April 25th, the second and third rounds on the 26th, and round four through seven on the 27th.

During the draft, teams are given picks in the draft based on how they did in the previous season. For example, last year, the Cleveland Browns went 0-16, not winning a single game. Because of this, they got the 1st pick in the draft, and vice versa if a team did well during the season.

The first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, was Kyler Murray. A quarterback out of Oklahoma,  Kyler Murray was projected even before the draft to be the first pick based on his stats in college and at the NFL Combine. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, which had the worst season record out of every team, that being 3 wins and 13 losses.

There was some drama surrounding the Cardinals for drafting him for 2 main reasons. One, they had drafted a quarterback in the first round the previous year before, already giving up on him and trading him to another team, and two, Kyler Murray is only 5’10, making him the second shortest Quarterback to ever play in the NFL.
