Graves County HS on Twitter: “Congratulations Raychel Mathis on scoring her 1000th point! #GDTBAE… “

On Thursday, February 28th, our very own Lady Eagle Basketball team traveled to Murray State’s CFSB Center to play the Hickman County Falcons in the regional playoffs.

Our Lady Eagles defeated the Falcons 61-23.

The Eagles shot a percentage of 75% from the free-throw line and 41% from the 3-point line, resulting in their deserved victory.

Top scorers were Raychel Mathis with 19 points and Taylor Carrico with 15 points.

Unfortunately, the Lady Eagles went on to face the Marshall County on Monday night and lost during overtime, 44-50. Sophie Galloway and Raychel Mathis secured their rightful seat on the 2019 Region 1 All Tournament Team Tuesday night.

Raychel Mathis, when reflecting on the season, said that “as a team, we all grew. We definitely played our best basketball at the end.”

The Lady Eagles ended their season with a jaw-dropping record of 25-7.

“We were all very pleasant in practice,” Mathis continued, “so it made it easier on our coach and ourselves.”

“We were just a pleasant group and it was fun.”
