This Friday, Graves County and Mayfield football teams battled each other  in their annual Battle of the Birds game.

Graves County scored the first touchdown, starting the game with the lead. In back-and-forth touchdowns, the teams tied scores, being 14-14 for a hot minute until Mayfield stole the lead.

During halftime, the Graves County band and color guard put on a phenomenal performance, with a number that they had been rehearsing just for the schools’ biggest game of the year.

After halftime, Mayfield unfortunately kept the lead, ending the game with a 56-21 lead.

Graves County Junior, Cody Goatley, says, “The outcome definitely wasn’t what we wanted, but the score was definitely an accurate reflection of our practicing, because we haven’t done our jobs at practice every week to win.”

There’s always next year, and every day is a great day to be an eagle! #GDTBAE
