MAN OVERBOARD– English teachers Adrienne Custer and Mark Mallory take a swim after boat failure.

Students in Stephanie Duke’s Physics class found out on Tuesday afternoon that building a sustainable boat was not at all too easy.

Students were given a task; build a sea-worthy vessel from ONLY duct-tape and cardboard. After completion, the boats were to then be put to the test at Oak Hills Pool. The type/style of boat was not specified, and students were encouraged to get creative.

Teachers were invited to participate as well. English teachers Adrienne Custer and Mark Mallory constructed the SS GCHS Eagles Eye in the shape of a newspaper hat. Although the didn’t win, Custer commented “I wanted to race in this race as a way to promote the newspaper’s new website.”

Winners of the race of were Hunter Jones and Eric Vogt.
