HALF TIME WARMUP– (L to R) Freshman Justin Wallace, Junior Ben Mullins, Senior Chance Marshall, and Junior Colby Simpson.

The new Graves County High School Screaming Eagle Band has brought back an old legacy to its ensemble in the form of the 2013 – 2014 Screaming Eagle drum line.

A drum line is the leading percussion factor in a band. The line is directed by Shane Melvin and Jeff Williams. The line members are Chance Marshall, Ben Mullins, Colby Simpson, John Wyman, Caleb Pack and Justin Wallace. As a member of the first drum line in four years Ben Mullins says, “We have come a long way from our last show that included a drum line. “

Mullins is the section leader of the drum line and a junior at GCHS. The soul purpose of a drum line is to keep the pulse for the band while performing their own music. The instruments played in the GCHS’s drum line  are three bass drums, two snare drums and a set of tenor drums. Full band can be seen performing at half time of the home games for the year.
