Graves County’s Fine Arts Department is hosting an Arts in Education week in the commons starting next week. Each day will be filled with productions and performances from departments such as drama, chamber choir, band, and art.

Choir director Mr. Rice expressed, “ We’re trying to pick pieces that people who don’t know or like choir are going to enjoy.” I think what this does for school as a whole is gives them a chance to see what we really do in such classes,” he continued.

“For me, I am also taking this as a recruitment opportunity to get kids more motivated to join next year.”

Band teacher Mr. Burchett relays that the band is working hard this week to “perform different music pieces, and of course, prepare for the upcoming Battle of the Birds game.”

He believes that everyone relates to music and will get GC’s students involved in the otherwise overlooked the arts department.
