Community Service Day

GCHS Students help clean up Highland Park Cemetery

At GCHS, social responsibility and community involvement is highly valued in its students and staff.

Therefore, students must have 24 hours of documented community service in order to receive a diploma.

In order to assist students in achieving this graduation requirement, as well as cultivate an attitude of “giving back,” GC hosts a community service day every year.

Students do many forms of community service that is planned by the staff and local businesses that allow for students to assist in community needs.

From mulching public places to painting fingernails at retirement homes, students come together to give back to the community that fosters them.

Junior, Cameron Gough cleaned the pool at Oak Hills Country Club. “It was cool getting to get in the pool without any water in it. It was fun and helped me get my community service hours for graduation next year.”

This has been a graves county tradition for many years and will continue to benefit students and the community for years to come.
