The GCHS Varsity Baseball team kicked off their season opener on March 23 with a win against Murray High School (13-5). The team is now 2-1.
GC Junior Lane Howell hit the team’s first homerun of the season at the Big Orange Classic last week.
Howell commented on the hit, saying “it was the pitcher’s first varsity pitch, so that felt GREAT. My parents were really excited, especially my mom.”
“Our goals this season are to win the region,” Howell continued, “and beat McCracken.”
The McCracken County Mustangs are the reigning regional champs, with a 5-1 record this season. However, Howell believes this is the year to beat the team and take the regional title back to Graves.
The Eagles will play at home tonight at 7 against the Carlisle County Comets, weather permitting.
