GCHS DECA Group Wins State Competion
Graves County High School’s DECA club recently brought home the gold from the DECA state competition. The competition, taking place in Louisville, Kentucky, consisted of hundreds of individual groups from a wide variety of schools across the state.
One such group, consisting of members Maggie Garland, Bianca Hale, and Jacob Woods, ranked 1st place with their presentation.
“The experience has been surreal,” said Maggie Garland. “I’ve gotten to create a brand new device with the help of two great teammates and watch it because more than just a part of our imagination.”
She continued: “Getting to go to state and compete and present has taught us many mannerisms and public speaking critiques; we now know how to speak clearly and we know how to sell a product.”
“Overall, I suppose DECA has taught us how to get our voice out to the public, and how to behave in a work setting while still being able to have fun.”
