The latest season of Supernatural differs from the earlier seasons quite a bit. In this season, Sam and Dean Winchester face something of another world, literally. The season premiere starts with a recap of Mary, their mother, being pulled into another universe as the son of Satan is born. Mary faces this other place alongside Lucifer, until they are taken prisoner by an arch angel, Micheal.

In their own universe, Sam and Dean deal with the loss of not only their mother, but Castiel. They must also care for Jack, Satan’s son. As they continue searching alongside Jack, they come across a dream walker, or someone who can see other worlds. She helps them see this other world and attempts to send them there, using Jack’s powers along with hers.

Dean is very skeptical of Jack, convinced he is evil, but as the season moves along he becomes more trusting. Sam is facing internal battles, whereas Dean is hiding his emotions. Jack faces issues too, as he is trying to convince Dean, and himself, that he is good.

This season is one of the better, as it shows the characters true emotions and internal battles. Many different truths are revealed and the characters come closer to each other, to survive.
