Slenderbodies’ Fabulist (extended) EP review

Released at the beginning of the month, Slenderbodies’ Fabulist (extended) EP contains five transcendental beats. Each song is comprised of soft vocals and crisp harmonics.

Beginning with “Blood to Gold,” a mixture of R&B with a touch of electronic, the album starts smooth. “Amnesia” is unique and slightly techno with very strong bass and funky guitar riffs. “Lucid” starts off with refreshing sounds of ocean waves, and then slurs into call-and-response style vocals and features acoustic and bass beats. “Pink Hue” offers an upbeat sound, reminiscent of something you would hear in a beach house in Fiji. “Windmarks” is exactly what you would expect it to be: a chilling, ethereal beat that resembles something off the Coldplay Ghost Story album.

Ultimately, Slenderbodies flawlessly mirrored their hometown – Los Angeles – with their groovy, tropical presence. Fabulist (extended) is a must-listen for 2018.
